This week's WiNKED Wednesday tackles Permanent Makeup (PMU) aftercare, the secret weapon that transforms your brows (or eyeliner, or lips!) into low-maintenance masterpieces. But fear not, flawless faces! While the healing process might have you questioning your fabulous new PMU, it's all part of the glow up journey.
⏳ The Transformation Timeline: Witness Your PMU Bloom
(Days 1-4 Redness & Irritation): This is the initial phase. Think of it as your face throwing a little "healing party" - some redness, swelling, and slight scabbing might crash the scene. But trust the process and let your body do its thing. The party should die down within a few days, leaving you with fabulous results.
(Days 5-14 Flakes forming and falling off, Lighter color & patchiness): Scabs may start to flake off, like tiny confetti celebrating your new makeup! Resist the urge to pick or scratch - let them fall off naturally to avoid any drama (or pigment loss!). The color might also appear lighter or patchy, but don't worry, it's just the top layer of skin shedding. The real star of the show, your beautiful pigment, will emerge when
the healing is complete.
(Days 15-27 Color is coming back): The color will soften as your skin heals completely. This doesn't mean your PMU is fading, it's just settling in like a VIP at the after-party. The final, fabulous color will arrive around 4-6 weeks. Trust the process and be patient, your brow (or eyeliner, or lip) dreams are about to come true!
🔓 Unlocking Flawless Results: Your PMU Aftercare Guide
Do: Keep the area clean with a gentle cleanser recommended by your artist. Apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment as instructed. You got this!
Don't: Pick, scratch, or rub the treated area. Avoid excessive sweating, swimming, hot tubs, and saunas for at least a week. Let your brows heal in peace, they've been through enough!
Do: Wear minimal to no makeup on the treated area for the first week.
Don't: Apply harsh skincare products or petroleum jelly. Avoid direct sunlight and strenuous exercise for the first few days. Give your brows some TLC (tender loving care) for optimal results.
